Open Mic back in Newcastle

Posted: 11 Jun 2017

The North East again plays host to Open Mic UK, the national music competition seeking the country’s best singers, singer-songwriters, rappers and vocal groups.

The Tyne Theatre and Opera House in Newcastle is the place for aspiring music stars to show what they’re made of, and the date is 16 September.

Our region is one of 14 around the UK where people get the chance to compete in front of expert judges who in the past have included representatives from the three major record labels (Universal, Warner and Sony), festival organisers, national radio DJs, regional press and BBC Introducing, with judges getting more prestigious as the competition progresses.

The competition is run by Future Music, the company behind the discovery of numerous acts who have taken part in the competitions on their way to being signed to major record labels.

These include Lucy Spraggan, Luke Friend, Karen Hardy, and Jacob Banks, plus Warner Music’s signings and Open Mic UK’s first winner Birdy and The Lottery Winners along with Union J’s Jaymi Hensley.

For more information and to book your audition go to the music competition Open Mic UK 2017 website.

Auditions are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and audition slots are filling fast.
