Midge Ure on tour

Posted: 27 Apr 2015

Midge Ure has teamed up with two talented musicians to go out on the road as an acoustic three-piece band.

Their Breathe Again tour – so called because Midge is revisiting his album Breathe 20 years after its launch – lands at the Sage Gateshead on 27 June.

The trio will play all the tracks from Breathe as well as some of Midge’s former hits, this time given a new lease of life with an acoustic flavour.

Cole Stacey and Jospeh O’Keele from the band India Electric Co join Midge and bring an array of instruments including violin and mandolin into the mix.

The pair proved to be such a successful support act that Midge asked them on board for the tour.

Midge says: “I’ve been out and about on my own for the last few years, so I’m looking forward to sharing the stage.”

So will the obvious usual suspect – Vienna – be given an airing?

“Well, the audience expect Vienna, but I change everything to suit the format of the concert, so it will be different from the original recording,” says Midge.

“Of course I’m proud of Vienna – it was something that changed my life overnight.”

Marti Pellow Supported by Philippa Hanna Sage Gateshead 24 March 2017 There’s nothing mysterious about Marti Pellow despite ‘Mysterious’ being the name of the tour he stopped off with at Sage Gateshead along with his nine-piece band. With a packed audience who had grown up with the former ‘Wet Wet Wet’ front-man, Pellow’s fun-infected fusion rolled along at a steady pace, punctuated by the occasional number slow enough to persuade some of his adoring legions to momentarily sit...
